What Kind of Wedding Dress Will Meghan Markle Wear?

The wait is over: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are officially engaged, which means the countdown to the 2018 royal wedding (and extra bank holidays....!) has begun! We can now start speculating about the bride-to-be's wedding dress. Who will design it? What will it look like? We have so many questions!

So the detective work begins and right now all we have is her personal style and past quotes to go on. These are however very big clues in finding out what kind of style she will go for. Meghan will we're sure go for something couture, bespoke and from a very famous designer (much like her future sister in law Kate Middleton) but we can guess at the type of style she will go for.

In a 2016 interview with Glamour about her Suits character's wedding, the 36-year-old describes attorney Rachel Zane's ballerina-inspired gown as "not my personal style, because I'm a lot more relaxed" and hinted at her own bridal inspo. So what exactly is Markle's style? "I personally prefer wedding dresses that are whimsical or subtly romantic,". Taking that into consideration how about this gorgeous piece from Sottero & Midgley?

Whimsical and romantic with a touch of the vintage this dress would wonderfully hug her figure. It also has the daintiest train, perfect for a subtle wow down the aisle!

Meghan also made a point of mentioning designers she likes in the past, these fashion favourites may also shine some light on the type of wedding dress she is likely to choose. In particular 'And I will always be a fan of Ellie Saab. J. Mendel is spectacular as well, especially for more structural designs." Picking up on the more structured element maybe she would go for this statement, layered tulle wedding dress also from Sottero & Midgley!

However, there's one celebrity wedding gown she called "everything goals" and might be a major hint about her own bridal aesthetic. That dress is the now-iconic wedding gown worn by the late Carolyn Bessette Kennedy at her 1996 secret wedding to John F. Kennedy Jr. in Georgia. It looked more like a slip dress than a wedding gown—simple and chic—and was the ultimate antidote to the ornate wedding gown trend of the decade. Now we don't think she'll be able to go that risqué on her big day plus its a bit too 90's but a compromise would be this gorgeous and brand new wedding dress from Ellis Bridals (12285). A coloured slip dress which sits underneath some very delicate ornate lace motifs. Its just stunning and brand new at Brides & Bustles!

So that's our predictions! We think Meghan would look amazing in any of these wedding dresses and its just a bit of fun but hopefully we have inspired you on your quest to find the perfect bridal gown.
